01
Research
I use an empathetic and people-first approach to understanding what students need to learn and how best to teach it to them.
02
Ideation
I ideate with a focus on a centralizing insight, an observation about the student experience, that informs how to weigh the different styles, mediums, formats, and curriculum structures that might be employed so that students can best learn.
03
Design
Once many ideas have been mapped out, a few potential winners rise above the rest. Stakeholder input is used to gauge the strengths, weaknesses, and trade-offs of the top options to ensure new developments fit the goals of the students, course, and commissioning organization (if there is one).
04
Implement
Prototypes that succeed at meeting all objectives get spun up into fully realized deliverables and, when applicable, folded into existing curricula. Iterative refinement ensures changes to what isn’t working doesn’t negatively affect what is.
05
Assess
The process is, in some senses, repeated. I do new research to determine multiple things: if the goals of the design were a success, if students are reacting positively to the changes, and if there are new areas for improvement that can be revealed.
